Foodie Families: Gus's Fried Chicken, Little Rock Pasta Co., Whole Foods
We're always on the the hunt for good eats in central Arkansas. In our blog series, Foodie Families, we share the latest news about Little Rock's family-friendly restaurant scene. Here are a few of tasty morsels we've heard about lately:
Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken: The fried chicken favorite will open a second Little Rock location later this summer. West Little Rock fans of the chicken (and pie!) offered by Gus's will be happy to know they no longer have to travel all the way downtown to get their fix; the new spot will be located at 400 Bowan Curve in the space formerly occupied by Buffalo Grill. Read more details here.
Starving Artist Cafe: This quirky North Little Rock mainstay has closed its doors. The restaurant hosted “Tales from the South” radio show Tuesday nights, which will now move to the Argenta Branch of the Laman Library. For more details about the closing, click here.
Little Rock Pasta Co.: You may have seen this local pasta provider recently, selling hand-crafted pasta through the Arkansas Local Food Network and farmers markets around town. The owners John and Rachelle Walsh chatted with our sister pub Little Rock Soiree about their pasta varieties, including the Arkansaoli -- a unique, Arkansas-shaped ravioli. Read the full interview here.
Whole Foods Market: The Little Rock location of the grocery chain announced that they'll receive a new home next year. The market will relocate to the former Linens N Things building at 501 S. Bowman Road. For more details, read the report in Arkansas Business here.
Diamond Bear Brewing Co. and Arkansas Alehouse: Moms and Dads, this one is just for you! Diamond Bear Brewing Co. is working hard to open its first restaurant, Arkansas Alehouse, sometime this month. We're thinking this will be the perfect spot for your next laid-back date night. The brew pub will be located in North Little Rock. Read the full story here.
