How can you entertain the family this weekend? Let us count the ways: 6 central Arkansas festivals, 5 Travelers baseball games, 4 fundraising walks, 1 new musical at the Children's Theatre...oh, and the five springtime activities below!

1. A Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra at Central High School: Written by Benjamin Britten in 1946, this composition is a well-known educational tool for children to introduce the major families of an orchestra. The piece was originally composed for an educational film demonstrating the instruments of the symphony orchestra. In the words of the composer, the work was “affectionately inscribed to the children of John and Jean Maud: Humphrey, Pamela, Caroline, and Virginia, for their edification and enjoyment.” Caroline is now a resident of Little Rock, and her husband, Mr. Joel Pugh, has arranged to have the work performed by the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra for her 75th birthday. Seating will be limited; visit the website to RSVP. 3 p.m. April 27. For info: (501) 661-1761, ArkansasSymphony.org. FREE!

2. First Lady Ginger Beebe's Tea at Arkansas Governor's Mansion: First Lady Ginger Beebe hosts this tea to benefit the Arkansas Governor's Mansion Association. Hats and gloves are encouraged! Kids can participate in a scavenger hunt around the grounds. $50, children ages 6-18 $25. 2-4 p.m. April 27. For info: (501) 324-9805, FriendsOfTheMansion.org.
