'The Music Man,' 'Camelot' Among Celebrity Attractions' 2014-2015 Season Lineup
Last week, Celebrity Attractions announced an awesome lineup for the 2014-2015 season at the Maumelle Performing Arts Center with four nationally touring and award-winning Broadway productions.
The public can look forward to the 50th anniversary celebration of "The Music Man" with Shirley Jones and "Love Letters" with Barbara Eden and Hal Linden, along with Tony-Award winning "Camelot," and the musical spectacular "Million Dollar Quartet."
- "The Music Man-In Concert," Oct. 3-5, 2014: Shirley Jones hosts this 50th Anniversary Celebration of one of America's favorite movie musicals, "The Music Man-In Concert." Co-starring Patrick Cassidy, it features beautiful period costumes designed by Tony Award-winner William Ivey Long, video projection, film clips and some of Broadway's finest singers and dancers. The show is composer Meredith Willson's vintage portrait of Americana, featuring the fast-talking and lovable salesman, Harold Hill; River City's lovely Librarian, Marion; and a cast of colorful and unforgettable characters who discover and rediscover the power of music and romance. Academy Award-winner Shirley Jones was one of the movie's original stars.
- "Love Letters," Jan. 16-18, 2015: Everyone's favorite "Jeannie" (Barbara Eden) and Hal Linden ("Barney Miller" star) will bring to the stage A.R.Gurney's poignant valentine to love, friendship and the lost art of letter writing, "Love Letters." Andy and Melissa first "meet" when Melissa writes to invite Andy to her birthday party. Their correspondence continues, growing longer and more familiar as they seek friendship in their respective boarding schools. They sympathize (and amiably bicker) throughout marriages, children, divorces, love affairs and careers that take them down different paths.
- "Camelot," Feb. 13-15, 2015: Experience Camelot's "one brief shining moment" as Lerner and Loewe envisioned it in one of theatre's most legendary musicals. Recount the time-honored legend of King Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot and the Knights of the Round Table in an enchanting fable of chivalry, majesty and brotherhood in this four-time Tony Award-winning show. The celebrated score includes the classics "If Ever I Would Leave You," "The Simple Joys of Maidenhood," and the title song, "Camelot."
- "Million Dollar Quartet," April 24-26, 2015: "Million Dollar Quartet" is the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical inspired by the electrifying true story of the famed recording session that brought together rock 'n' roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time. Featuring timeless hits including "Blue Suede Shoes," "Ring of Fire," "That's All Right," "Sixteen Tons," "Great Balls of Fire," "I Walk the Line," "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On," "See Ya Later, Alligator," "Fever," "Folsom Prison Blues," "Hound Dog" and more, this thrilling musical brings you inside the recording studio with four major talents who came together as a red-hot rock 'n' roll band for one unforgettable night.
