Join the 'It Can Wait' Movement During Drive 4 Pledges Day Today
Drivers are called to join the "It Can Wait" movement today (Sept. 19) to end the dangerous habit of texting while driving.
At 2 p.m. today, join local officials, police and fire departments, City Year representatives and AT&T during the Drive 4 Pledges Day kickoff at the pedestrian bridge entrance of the Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave, Little Rock. Aspiring to create a social stigma around the dangerous habit of texting while driving, Drive 4 Pledges Day will focus on getting individuals involved in taking the pledge to never text and drive.
The cities of Little Rock and North Little Rock will mark Drive 4 Pledges Day with a proclamation reading.
Mayor Stodola and North Little Rock Police Chief Mike Davis will announce the adoption of “It Can Wait, Little Rock” and “It Can Wait, North Little Rock,” extensions of AT&T’s national Texting and Driving – "It Can Wait" movement.
Pulaski County Sheriff Doc Holladay, representatives from the Little Rock and North Little Rock police departments, MEMS and other city, county and community leaders will be on hand to share their commitment to never text and drive and encourage others to do the same.
Arkansans are encouraged to take the pledge by texting ARPLEDGE to 464329 or visiting by www.itcanwait.com.
