On the cover of Little Rock Family's August issue, we featured local mom and change-maker Sheena Lewis. If you haven't yet read the feature story about Sheena, here's what you need to know: She is passionate about making a difference in young people's lives and serves on many boards and organizations, including the City of Little Rock Commission for Children, Youth and Families.

She is also the founder and CEO of DIVAS, Inc., an empowerment program for girls ages 11-18. Through the program's main event -- the five-day DIVAS, Inc. Girls Leadership & Empowerment Summit -- Sheena provides young women with career mentoring, life skills and tools for future success.

"It allows the girls to focus on themselves by exploring various career paths, how to lead a healthy lifestyle, listening to inspirational speakers, hearing from a panel of professional, positive women, participating in yoga, kickboxing and zumba, and going through leadership tests and advocacy group sessions," Sheena told Little Rock Family.

This year's leadership summit starts with the Kick-Off Soiree at the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies from 2-4 p.m. Aug. 10. The five-day event will be held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 12-16.

The summit is open to girls ages 11-18 and is $60 per participant.
