Dog-Friendly in Little Rock: Places to Eat, Play and Stay With Your Canine
Our pets are a part of the family, so it makes sense to include them in some of the fun stuff that we all do on a daily basis. The website, www.dogfriendlylittlerock.com, makes it easy to know where to eat and drink, play and stay with your pooch -- all in one place.
Chris Keene, owner, writer and doggy dining evangelist of the website, provides the ultimate Little Rock resource for dog-friendly places. She said the idea got started when she was walking her dog, Roxanne, around downtown Little Rock during St. Patrick's Day and an out-of-town visitor approached them who said he didn't realize he could bring his dog with him while visiting the capital city.
"We know there are a lot of like-minded travelers and we feel a personal recommendation is a lot more meaningful than a cursory list on one of the national websites (which omit many businesses, and are often downright incorrect)," she said.
Here is a look at some of the places she has compiled for the site:
Where to eat and drink
- Community Bakery
- Thirst N' Howl
- Crush Wine Bar
- Faded Rose
- Dugan's Pub
- Red Door
- The Root Cafe
- Starving Artist Cafe
Where to play
Where to stay (if you're a visitor)
- America's Best Value Inn in North Little Rock
- Clarion Hotel- Medical Center
- Embassy Suites
- The Empress of Little Rock
"Our goal is to encourage more restaurants and hotels to promote their dog-friendliness, especially with vacation season right around the corner," Keene said.
