Drum roll!

This past weekend, the Arkansas Arts Center Children's Theatre (AACCT) announced is 2013-2014 play lineup and it sounds like it's going to be one fun and entertaining season for the kiddos.

The theatre will open the season with "Pinkalicious the Musical" Sept. 20 - Oct. 6.The story goes like this: Pinkalicious is a very contrary little girl who can't stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor's office with pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe. A dream come true for this pink enthusiast, but she soon realizes that she may have gone too far. "Pinkalicious" is written by Elizabeth and Victoria Kann based on their book.

Magic fills the air just in time for Halloween when "The Sorcerer’s Apprentice" takes the stage Oct. 25 – Nov. 10. The fun-filled rendition of a popular story whisks the audience back in time with a modern young girl who goes on a magical journey and meets a mysterious medieval sorcerer’s apprentice. The production is based on a poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

Take the whole family on a holiday outing for an adventure with the Little Engine in "The Engine That Thought it Could" on stage Nov. 29 – Dec. 15. The audience will go on an exciting journey in this classic tale of determination when it's left up to Little Engine to save the day. The Little Engine learns that hard work pays off even when faced with adversity. "The Engine that Thought it Could" is based on the 1906 story by Reverend Charles S. Wing.

Beat those winter blues with a comical production that will cover the grounds of negotiation and compromise when the cows learn to type and the foul go on strike in "Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type" Jan. 24 – Feb. 7, 2014. Farmer Brown must find a new way to get milk and eggs. "Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type" is adapted from Doreen Cronin’s original book with illustrator, Betsey Lewin.

Join the little shepherd boy as he learns a valuable lesson on why honesty is important in "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" premiering March 7 – 23, 2014. In this familiar tale, a little shepherd boy is tired of watching the flock of sheep all day and wants some excitement in his life, so he decides to make things interesting by shouting for help from a wolf just for his own amusement. The villagers come running, but discover that the little shepherd boy has pulled the wool over their eyes. "The Boy who Cried Wolf" is written by Alan Keith Smith based on Aesop’s fable.

Just in time for spring, the Children’s Theatre will visit an enchanted kingdom in a faraway land with charming princess, beautiful maidens and fairies in "Sleeping Beauty" on stage April 25 – May 11, 2014. For years, the king and queen have wanted a child so when their sweet princess is finally born, they invite the entire kingdom with the exception of one bad fairy. What follows in this classic tale of love, courage and the triumph of good over evil is sure to leave audiences of all ages feeling happily ever after. "Sleeping Beauty" is based on the fairytale by the Brothers Grimm.
