Put your money where your heart is when you buy one of these items, all of which donate a portion of sales to a special cause or organization.
- For two years, Becca Willard has crocheted and sold comfy sandals, scarves and more to fund Creations for the Cure. Through the nonprofit, she purchases supplies to craft homemade hats, which she then donates to young cancer patients at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Submit your order on either the Facebook page or on Etsy.
- Moms can make a bold, beautiful statement with a handmade broken china pendant, which benefits the Women’s Shelter of Central Arkansas, a member of the Arkansas Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The necklaces are available at the Thea Center in North Little Rock’s Argenta Arts District. For more info, visit TheaFoundation.org or DomesticPeace.com.
- Show off your newest family portrait in one of these unique frames, each adorned with repurposed costume jewelry. Proceeds are donated to Rock of Hope, a new nonprofit working to eliminate homelessness in central Arkansas. Frames are available at The Green Corner Store.
- Dimestore Diamonds, based in North Little Rock, designed this striking handmade necklace for nonprofit Mamie’s Poppy Plates. The organization provides keepsake plates to families who are mourning an infant death. Purchase a necklace in the Etsy store.
- You’ll be ready for a family dinner with these goodies from the Clinton Museum Store: Packets of delicious “Presidential Parmesan Rice” benefit the Arkansas Rice Depot; organic Tana spices make any dish flavorful and provide employment for women in an impoverished area of Colombia; and the colorful dishware line gives back to the Food Bank of NYC. For more info, visit ClintonFoundation.org.
Do-Good Eats
Kids can sidle up to the soda fountain at the Green Corner Store and ask for the Charity Flavor of the Month. December’s “Peppermint Pup” benefited the Humane Society, and in March you can snack on a scoop to benefit downtown Little Rock’s historic Dreamland Ballroom. For info and hours, visit TheGreenCornerStore.com.
At Pitza 42 in Conway, families will feel good about chowing down on scrumptious mini pita pizzas: For each “pitza” bought, the restaurant donates a meal to a hungry child through the nonprofit Feed My Starving Children. For info and hours, visit Pitza42.com.
