The Museum of Discovery will welcome a new traveling exhibit this Saturday (Sept. 22) that explores the technology and science behind traditional and modern navigation.

GPS Adventures Arkansas comes courtesy of the Arkansas Discovery Network, a group of six learning centers across the state.

Visitors ages 6 and up will learn about current GPS technology and get their hands on GPS-enabled gear in the exhibit. Plus, adventurers of all ages will see how GPS enables the sport of geocaching, a technology-fueled twist on the old game of hiding and seeking treasure.

Adventure-seekers can place a geocache--a container, usually very small, filled with objects or information--practically anywhere in the world, pinpoint its location and then share the location coordinates online.

Anyone with a GPS unit can then try to locate the well-hidden treasure chests, making the sport a perfect way for families to get out and explore Arkansas State Parks.

Round out your trip to the museum with a visit to the Design Zone exhibit, as well as the Tinkering workshop for special programming in conjunction with Moon Fest.

General admission to the museum is $10, children ages 1-12 $8, children under 1 free. For more info, click here.
