Ashton Woodward, owner of recently established Arkansas Fresh Bakery in Benton, will be meeting customers and dispensing samples from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 25) at Argenta Market, 521 Main St., North Little Rock.

The bakery, which is peanut-free and soy-free, specializes in artisan bread production for central Arkansas hotels and restaurants including Bray Gourmet in downtown Little Rock, which opened in July.

It bakes with a 1949 Rainier oven that was owned for 50 years by the renowned Klappenbach Bakery of Fordyce, which closed in 2011.

Arkansas Fresh breads, according to the website littlerock.locallygrown.net, are made with unbleached, unenriched flour and local ingredients whenever possible -- no trans-fats, additives, preservatives, or iodized salt. All the breads sold at Argenta Market are baked the night before.

Woodward is former bakery manager at Boulevard Bread Co., 1417 Main St., Little Rock.
