Run in the Little Rock Zoo 5K/1M Cheetah Chase Saturday
Lucky for you, participants in the Little Rock Zoo 5K/1M Cheetah Chase won't have to outrun any real cheetahs on Saturday (June 2). Only two-legged runners will celebrate the swift felines' summer arrival at the Little Rock Zoo by competing in the 5K run or 1-mile family walk. Attendees are encouraged to dress in a "big cat" costume for the jaunt; the best animal and wildcat get-ups will win awards for their creativity. Plus, all participants with a paid registration for the Chase will gain free entry into the zoo for the rest of the day.
Runners will also receive a pass to return and see the Laura P. Nichols Cheetah Outpost when it opens at the beginning of July. The zoo will receive two cheetahs from the National Zoo in Washington D.C., and the mother/daughter pair will live in the brand-new exhibit currently being built for them where the zebras once resided.
The Little Rock Zoo Cheetah Chase will begin 8 a.m. Saturday. Registration is $25 before May 30, $35 on race day or $65 per family of two adults and two children under age 10. All proceeds from the race will benefit the Arkansas Zoological Foundation. Click here to register or call (501) 661-7208.
