The new playground at Little Rock's War Memorial Park, the final step in revitalizing the green space, is now open -- and just in time for families to enjoy during the summer months.

Improvements have also been made to War Memorial Golf Course, walking trails, the park pavilion and more.

Mayor Mark Stodola helped dedicate the playground Wednesday (May 23), praising the Little Rock Parks and Recreation staff for their efforts in the revitalization.

The design of the play space is similar to the popular playground at downtown's Peabody Park and utilizes native stones to create caves, rock crannies and child-sized underground tunnels. Children can romp in water features on hot days, scramble up rope and rock-climbing areas and rush down slides.
