Shen Yun Performing Arts Promises to Dazzle, Educate Children (And Parents, Too)
New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts will be on stage at 7 p.m. Monday (Feb. 27) and Tuesday (Feb. 28) at Robinson Center Music Hall, Markham and Broadway, Little Rock.
The highly physical performance, based on classical Chinese dance along with ethnic and folk dance styles, is a collection of short pieces that take audiences on a cultural tour spanning 5,000 years of history.
Distinctly Chinese sounds of ancient instruments like the erhu and the pipa are combined with Western strings, percussion, woodwinds, and brass to produce a fresh, unexpected sound.
Animated backdrops projected behind the colorfully costumed dancers set the stage amid blossoming landscapes, deep forests, Mongolian prairies, and fantastic paradises.
Tickets to the 2 1/2-hour show are $50-$120 and are available at Ticketmaster locations, charge by phone at (800) 745-3000 or (501) 244-8800 or online by clicking here.
