Ringling Bros. and Barnum Bailey presents Zing Zang Zoom, Gold Edition coming Thursday-Sunday (Aug. 4-7) to Verizon Arena, 1 Verizon Way, North Little Rock. Enjoy high-flying excitement and pulse-pounding acts combined with performers of amazing courage and extraordinary skill, all just feet away from your seat! Witness The Hairdaring Duo hang 35 feet in the air by their hair and the Kung Fu Kings as they bend solid metal poles around their bodies. Laman Library’s end-of-summer bash is back again this year, featuring Grammy nominees Trout Fishing in America. Lamanpalooza will be from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday (Aug. 5). Indoor and outdoor activities will include an inflatable bouncing ring and obstacle course, train rides, caricatures by Jim Tindall, a balloon-maker on stilts, activities from the Museum of Discovery, animal education with Abner the Humane Society Education Dog, Wii and PlayStation 3 video games and much more. McGruff the crime dog will be there along with a 1,500 gallon aquarium from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and MEMS ambulance for kids to explore. Charity Vance, a Little Rock native and former American Idol contestant, will perform live at Wildwood Park for the Arts at 7 p.m. Aug. 13. The second performer in Wildwood’s Emerging Artist Series, 18-year-old Vance got her start singing at Little Rock venues like Riverfest and the Arkansas Repertory Theatre. Now she is a favorite among kids and teens for her electric indie-pop style, original songs and covers of pop icons like Justin Bieber. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. with a post-concert VIP party following. Easter Seals will hold its annual “Rollin’ on the River” event Aug. 27 at the Clinton Presidential Center. The event will include a 5K run and a 2K family fun walk along with bounce houses, face painting, prizes and more. Registration for the 5K begins at 6:15 a.m. and registration for the 2K is at 7:15 a.m. Each team in the 2K walk is represented by an Easter Seals Ambassador, a child or adult who receives services at Easter Seals, and team members get to know them and learn their success stories.
