10 Events for Weekend Family Fun
From a new ice cream flavor debutat Loblolly to "Cinderella" on the big screen at Movie Tavern, this weekend is packed with fun!
Friday
Fiesta Friday at the Outlets of Little Rock: Fiesta Friday will include a wide array of local food trucks, craft beer and live music by Raising Grey. This fun-filled event from 5-10 p.m. helps to fight hunger by benefiting the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance and the Arkansas Foodbank. Flavor Release Friday at Loblolly Creamery: Everyone's favorite local scoop shop is launching a new flavor series and it all starts this week with a heaping helping of deliciousness. Second Saturday at the Little Rock Farmers Market: Head to the River Market Pavilion for the regular farmers market happenings from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. But, from 8 a.m.-noon, there's lots of extra fun going down, including the Lil Farmers Kids Club, live music, food demos and tastings and more! Splash and Dash Aquathon in Benton: Kids 5-14 years old can compete in this brand new swim and run event. Ages 11-14 do a 200-yard swim and 1.5-mile run at 8:30 a.m., ages 7-10 do a 100-yard swim and 1-mile run at 9:30 a.m. and ages 5-6 do a 50-yard swim and half-mile run at 10 a.m. The race is followed by a pool party for participants and their families. The event goes from 8:30 a.m.-noon. Register online. FREE!
Tinkerfest at the Museum of Discovery: At this annual event, tinkering takes over the entire museum and neighboring streets for a day-long event with 50 hands-on, interactive activities from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Each activity teaches visitors how everyday objects such as cars and computers work, and provides opportunities to explore the engineering and science behind building objects. Ice Cream & Car Seats at Dairy Queen: From 10 a.m.-noon, stop by Dairy Queen locations in Sherwood, Cabot and Benton where parents and caregivers can learn how to correctly install their child’s car seat and how to secure their child correctly into the car. Little Rock BrunchFest at Heifer International: Little Rock’s inaugural festival celebrates the area’s best brunch food and beverages! The event from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. benefits Centers for Youth and Families and features food and drinks from 41 Bar and Table, Cantina Laredo, At the Corner, Cathead's Diner, Bar Louie and more than a dozen other restaurants.
