Little Rock's New ArtLab Provides a Creative Haven for Kids
When Mona Bowers retired from her job as an elementary art teacher, she knew she wasn't done yet. She had always wanted to open her own studio, and from that dream, ArtLab was born.
The space has been hosting open studio time since July 1 and will celebrate its official grand opening on Oct. 2 from 4-6 p.m. Visitors will get to enjoy a free open studio, meet teachers, have a chance at door prizes and enjoy snacks and refreshments.
The open studio allows kids to experiment with watercolor, tempera, Play-Doh, Legos, peg board, chalk/felt board and sensory stations as well as the studio's Art Buffet. As Bowers describes it, "open studio is set up to be child led so that children have the opportunity to make creative choices."
During regular hours (Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.) , the studio is open for $15/hour per child, while adults are admitted free.
In addition to open studio time, ArtLab also offers classes for both children (as young as 6 months old) and adults. Registration for fall classes is closed, but pop-up classes and workshops are posted throughout the year and winter classes will soon be available for signups on the website.

You can also throw a birthday pARTy at ArtLab with several package options that can center around an open studio or a personalized craft project for all the partygoers to participate in. Details on party options and pricing are available here.
ArtLab is located at 8201 Cantrell Road #130 in Little Rock. Visit their website or call 501-379-9175 for more information on the studio.
