10 Fall Events for Weekend Family Fun
Fall is upon us! We've got festivals, a date night idea, sugary sweet cupcake event and more happening this weekend as we welcome October and (fingers crossed) lots of cooler weather.
Friday
"Giggle, Giggle, Quack" Storytime: Bologna Joe's is teaming up with the Arkansas Arts Center to present a live book reading with the characters from "Giggle, Giggle, Quack." DATE NIGHT - Shine a Light on Literacy at Next Level Events: This festive annual event honors supporters of Literacy Action of Central Arkansas and inspires continued dedication to adult literacy. Festiville in Jacksonville: Enjoy carnival rides and games, live entertainment, the Grill in the Ville BBQ Contest, a 5K, an auto show, concessions, commercial and non-commercial booths, a volleyball tournament, petting zoo, kids area and much more. Fall Fest & Buzzin' BBQ Bash at Bishop Park in Bryant: Join local businesses, school groups, clubs and talents in this festival of fun and food! Activities include a parade, Duct Tape Boat Race, and KidZland. As part of Fall Fest, don't miss Bryant's Buzzin' BBQ Bash, with delicious BBQ, games, face painting, giveaways, arts and crafts booths, and exclusive carnival food vendors and concessions. Bubble Run Little Rock: You don’t need to be athletic for this fun and foamy 5K — it’s 100 percent for fun and not even considered an official race. Clad in white T-shirts, adults, kids and strollers can run, walk, dance and play across three miles of absolute fun! At each kilometer, participants will run through the Foam Bogs where there is enough colored foam to cover you from head to toe! The event takes place at the Arkansas State Fairgrounds starting at 8 a.m. Registration is $50 per person, kids under 4 free with paid adult. Visit the website for more information.
Festival in the Park at Two Rivers: The festival will feature fun activities including bounce houses, a pumpkin patch, pumpkin painting, hay rides, a baggo contest, dog contest and live music. Artists include Gloryland Pastors Choir and headliner Taylor Made Rocks. There will also be food trucks on site as well as a beer garden for parents to enjoy. Wizard Wannabees: This hour of crafting at the CALS Main Library is dedicated to J.K. Rowling’s popular characters from the Harry Potter series. Event is for ages 12 and under and goes from 3-4 p.m. Wizard Wannabees is part of CALS' Banned Books Week celebrations. Visit the website for details. FREE!
3rd Annual CareLink Cupcakes for Goodness Sake: Raise your hand if you have a sweet tooth! Cupcakes for Goodness Sake, CareLink’s signature event, is taking to the streets this year and inviting everyone to take a sugary stroll through downtown North Little Rock. Enjoy unique treats from local bakers, shop local vendors and enjoy delicious food and treats while helping raise funds and friends for CareLink. 3-8 p.m. in the Argenta Arts District. $10 for adults, $5 for kids 6-12 and free for kids under 6. "Giggle, Giggle, Quack" at the Arkansas Arts Center: The Arkansas Arts Center Children's Theatre is back for its 2017-18 season! In "Giggle, Giggle, Quack" Farmer Brown is off on a much-needed vacation, leaving his brother Bob in charge with one crucial word of advice: “Keep an eye on Duck.
