Meteor Shower Cruises: Escape the summer heat by enjoying a late night on the water! View shooting stars from the middle of Lake Maumelle on one of Pinnacle Mountain State Park’s cruises. Learn about stars and constellations from a park interpreter and watch a slice of the annual Perseid meteor shower. Meet at the Jolly Rogers Marina. 9-11 p.m. each night. $15; $8 kids ages 6-12. Back-to-School Dollar Day at the Zoo: With the new school year just around the corner, the Little Rock Zoo is throwing one last summer bash: the Back-to-School Hiland Dairy Dollar Day. Admission is just $1 all day long. Gates open at 9 a.m. and last admission will be at 5 p.m. Visit the Facebook event page for details.
Junior League of Little Rock's Sixth Annual Boosters and Big Rigs: This family-friendly event at the UALR Jack Stephens Center provides children with physicals, vision and dental screenings. The event also gives kids an educational and fun opportunity to explore and touch vehicles, such as ambulances, fire trucks, police cars and more. Games and activities include obstacle courses, bounce houses, nutritional games and biking obstacle courses. Lunch will be provided. The fun goes from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Click here for info. FREE!
Rock Your Reach in downtown Little Rock: This event is perfect for families — the day begins with an all-levels yoga class on the Junction Bridge paired with a kids' yoga sesh at the base of the bridge, so everyone gets to participate. Yoga starts at 9 a.m. There's also an evening part of the event just for mom and dad at Rocktown Distillery. Tickets are $45 for adults and include the morning yoga and evening fun; yoga for kids is $10 per child. For more info, click here.
Back-To-School Bash for Teens: Teens ages 13-19 can enjoy a fun back-to-school bash and play extreme twister at Max Milam Library at 2 p.m. Visit website for more information. FREE!
Rackensack Folklore Society Annual Concert at the Arkansas Arts Center: The concert is a fun-filled musical show for the entire family. This year over 25 players will keep the traditional folk sounds alive with fiddles, mandolins, guitars, banjos, and dulcimers, as well as the musical saw and the dancing doll. 7-9:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under or $25 per family. Princess Tea Party at the Castle on Stagecoach: Visit with Cinderella, Beauty and Sleeping Beauty at August's Princess Tea Party at the Castle on Stagecoach. Arkansas Travelers vs. Midland at Dickey-Stephens Park: On Friday, the Travs play at 7:10 p.m. and the first 1,000 fans in the gate receive a free pair of inflatable thunder stixs. On Saturday, the first pitch is at 6:10 p.m., but get to the game early to watch midget wrestling starting at 5:15 p.m. And on Sunday, the game starts at 6:10 p.m. and the whole family (two adults and up to four kids) can get in for $10 if you bring your church bulletin from that morning. "The Wizard of Oz" at Murry's Dinner Playhouse: Follow the yellow brick road straight to Murry's Dinner Playhouse for a family night at the theater as "The Wizard of Oz" hits the stage. Friday and Saturday dinner is from 6-7:20 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, there is a matinee with lunch from 11 a.m.-12:40 p.m. and the show at 12:45 p.m. as well as an evening performance with dinner from 5:30-6:40 p.m. and the show at 6:45 p.m. Tickets range from $15-$37.
