Arkansas Children's Program Gives High School Girls a Way to Give Back
Now in its 15th year, the Star ACHiever program give young women entering the ninth grade a chance to get involved in the community.
The program exposes participants to a variety of medical careers and emphasizes the importance of philanthropy as participants may earn community service hours working in non-patient care areas.
The program includes at least six educational sessions, six ACH community service projects, and a parent/daughter event. Star ACHiever kicks off with the first educational session, orientation with a parent, in September.
Educational sessions will take place on the second Monday of each month from 5:30-7 p.m and could include tours of Angel One Transport Department, Heart Center, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and more.
The program concludes in April with a graduation dinner where Star ACHievers and their parents dine for a farewell celebration.
This program is sponsored by the hospital’s Auxiliary, a group of volunteers who work to raise money and awareness for ACH.
The application deadline is June 30 and requires a $1,200 tax-deductible donation to enroll. For more information and to see the application, click here.
