Kids' Program Debuts at Farmers Market Opening Day
Getting the kids to go to the farmers market might be a little less like pulling teeth this season.
On opening day, May 6, the Little Rock Farmers Market along with the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau kick off their latest program, the Lil' Farmers Club.
The club is aimed at kids ages 12 & under and provides a fun learning environment for kids to experience growing and eat different foods. Signups begin on Saturday, May 6 from 7 a.m.-3 p.m., and continue on the second Saturday of each month through September.
From 9-10 a.m. each second Saturday, the Lil’ Farmers taste produce and learn about healthy food choices. Participants play fun food-related games and earn prizes for the progress they make every month in their healthy-eating journals.
Additional activities on opening day from 8-11 a.m. include face painting, free balloon animals and an appearance by Dean the Bean, the market's mascot.
The farmers market is held at the River Market Pavilions each Saturday from 7 a.m.- 3 p.m. For more information, visit the website, call the River Market at (501) 375-2552, or follow them on Facebook.
