See ‘Frankenstein’ On Stage at Children's Theatre
After a full season of entertainment, the Arkansas Arts Center Children's Theatre will close with one final production on its Studio Show stage: "Frankenstein."
Studio Shows are different than main stage shows in that they are smaller in size and budget and showcase actors and ideas over scenery and properties.
This classic story is given new life on stage.
"Victor is a brilliant young chemist whose reckless appetite for scientific knowledge and notoriety drives him to folly and – in classic tragic form – destruction. No less a casualty of Victor’s hubris is the living specimen he creates and abandons – a hulk of reanimated human flesh that is both man and monster. Yearning for the nurture and love of his creator only to be abandoned with horror, Victor’s monster pursues him across mountains and frozen seas to the very end of the earth."
The show may not be appropriate for the youngest members of the family, and parental discretion is advised. According to the AAC, "this play contains moments of intense emotion and suspense. Additionally, the death and violence inherent in the novel’s plot will be depicted in dramatic—though not graphic—form."
The show runs May 10-11 and 13-14 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for Arkansas Arts Center members. Click here for more information or to purchase tickets.
"Rapunzel" is currently playing at the AACCT on the main stage and also runs through May 14. For details about the show click here.
