Museum Hosts Mock Press Conference for Black History Month
At the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 21, presenters bring history to life and kids can get involved.
The program, Press Conference/Interview with Former Slaves, has presenters pose as slaves and a Works Progress Administration writer. The WPA Federal Writers' Project was started as part of the New Deal and one of the projects acheivements was to document the lives of former slaves.
Presenters are Betty Coors, WPA writer and school teacher, with Ocie Hunter, Dennis Allen and Ornett Grind as slaves.
