11 Events For Weekend Family Fun
This weekend will be one for the books. No, really. Five events this weekend are either held at libraries around Little Rock or centered around books. You can also learn more about Black history at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center. It's bound to be a good one!
Friday
The Laughable Legend of Fancybeard the Bully Pirate at the Arkansas Arts Center: This show is an adventurous children's thriller that may not be suitable for younger kids. Tortuga Pirate Academy teaches 5th-graders how to become swashbucklers, but a few students are marooned! 5th Annual Freezin for a Reason 5K/10K and Lap for Life at Conway High School West Campus: Join Circle of Friends Faulkner County as the community gets moving to help the children at Arkansas Children's Hospital! The frozen fun includes free food, bounce houses, face painting, games and more. The 10k & 5k races take off at 9 a.m. running through flat central Conway neighborhoods. The Lap for Life begins at 10:45 a.m. and is one lap around the track at John McConnell Stadium. Registration for the 2K and 5K is $25 and 10K is $30. Registration on the day of event is $35 for all events. Kids 11 and under are $10 for each event. All proceeds benefit Arkansas Children's Hospital Foundation. Black History Month Tours at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center: Celebrate Black History Month by learning more about Arkansas' rich African American history at MTCC. Guided tours are free of charge and available by request on a first come, first served basis Tuesdays through Saturdays in February.
