6 Events for Weekend Fun: Arkansas State Fair, Harry Potter Science & More!
Fall continues to ramp up with another weekend of fun-filled activities. Head out to the 77th Annual Arkansas State Fair for some delicious funnel cake or escape your Muggle life for the wizarding world at the Museum of Discovery's Harry Potter Science Day. With all these options, it's bound to be a great weekend.
77th Annual Arkansas State Fair at the Arkansas State Fairgrounds: Visitors can explore the Agricultural Education Center, gawk at animals from the livestock show and meet zebras, goats, llamas and camels in the petting zoo. The Midway includes all of your favorite fair foods and more than 50 rides for kids and adults. Advance gate ticket prices are $5.99, and $2.99 for children ages 6-12. All concerts are included in the admission ticket. Premium upgraded concert seats are available for $15. All tickets can be purchased online at ArkansasStateFair.com. Harry Potter Science at the Museum of Discovery: There will be a spell of science cast to transform the Museum of Discovery into Hogwarts for one day. MusicFest El Dorado XXIX in Downtown El Dorado: MusicFest 29 returns to Downtown El Dorado for another amazing weekend of music. Two days, four stages and over 30 musical acts featuring David Nail, Sugar Ray with Mark McGrath, Lee Ann Womack, The Dallas Cowboys Zone featuring the Cowboys Tailgate Nation, Mobile Hall of Fame and the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, not to mention many more performing at South Arkansas' largest outdoor music event. Whether you like country, rock, R&B, bluegrass or blues, MusicFest 29 has something for everyone. Friday, Oct. 14th from 5 p.m. until midnight and Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. until midnight. Range Day at the Central Arkansas Nature Center: Test your archery or BB gun skills. Practice target shooting or shoot for the first time. Targets and instruction will be provided. Depending on the weather and available staffing, the archery range or the BB gun range (not both) will be set up for target shooting. Contact the nature center to see which range will be open. Boy Scout Day at the Mid-America Science Museum: The third Saturday of each month at Mid-America Science Museum is dedicated to the Boy Scouts of America, and covers key points regarding science from the scouting handbook. Scouts have a hands-on opportunity to perform experiments with air and thermal pollution, soil erosion and studies on native plant life that helps achieve badge requirements.
