10,000-Acre Nature Park Reopens in the Ozarks
If you're looking for a fall road trip to take with the family, look no further. Only about three and a half hours from Little Rock, Dogwood Canyon Nature Park is a huge nature preserve featuring a massive treehouse, horseback riding, Segway rentals and more!
The nature preserve boasts more than 15 square miles of nearly untouched landscape in the southwest Missouri region of the Ozarks mountains, just north of the Arkansas border. The park is managed by the The Johnny Morris Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to preserve Dogwood Canyon's plant and wildlife habitat.
The park offers tons of activities for families to partake in. There are walking trails, bike trails (bike rentals available or bring-your-own), stables for horseback riding, Segway rentals, tram tours, jeep tours, as well as a restaraunt and an education center.
There is even a huge two-story treehouse to explore that was featured on Animal Planet's "Treehouse Masters." You can also do some self-guided fishing, guided trout fishing, or take part in fly casting clinics.
A mill is in operation and features live demonstrations with head miller Blake Adams.
General admission is $10, $5 for children ages 3-11, and provides access to the mill, Canyon Grill Restaurant, Nature and Conservation Center as well as the treehouse. Additional fees apply for all other activities.
One-day adventure passes are available for $55, $30 for children ages 3-11 and free for children ages 2 and under. The admission fee still applies for these passes, but include walking/hiking, biking, wildlife tram tour and two hours of self-guided trout fishing. Rod rental fee is half off with adventure pass. If parkgoers arrive after 1 p.m., they can complete activities the next day with their receipt.
The park is located at 2038 West State Highway 86, Lampe, Missouri 65681. For more information, visit DogwoodCanyon.org or Facebook.com/DogwoodCanyon. Call (800) 225-6343 to book activity at Dogwood Canyon, (417) 348-3333 for same day reservations and (417) 348-3322 for group inquiries.
