Get kids interested in reading this summer through the library's Summer Reading Club.

This year's summer reading programs are dubbed On Your Mark, Get Set, Read! at CALS and William F. Laman libraries. All you need is a library card to become a member of this fun club. Join the SRC at any CALS location or either Laman Library branch. The fun includes learning, playing, storytimes, musical shows and more!

At CALS, each branch will have a weekly prize drawing. Summer Reading Club participants will receive one prize entry for registering. Additional entries can be earned each week by checking out materials, attending programs or completing library-related activities. This race feel gives kids a reason to get interested in reading and incentive to compete with other kids their age. 

CALS' weekly programs begin June 13. Then, the FOCAL Book Sale at the Main Library is on July 7-9. July 13 is Library Night at Dickey Stephens Park. July 14 is National Summer Learning Day. The week of July 25-30 is awards week. Participants may download the Summer Reading Club booklet at the CALS website.

The William F. Laman Public Library System has set forth challenges as well. The goal is to get kids to spend time reading, learning, exploring and energizing this summer as well as attend library events, explore library services, read and explore the community. The Summer Reading Challenge is not only fun; participation makes kids eligible for prize drawings throughout the summer! 

The Laman libraries have set a community-wide goal to read at least 500,000 books this summer.
