Through March 12 when you purchase a piggy bank at The Painted Pig, you'll have more than a cute container for your pennies—you'll also be investing in local families that have suffered domestic violence.

The Paint a Pig Art Contest benefits Women & Children First: The Center Against Family Violence, a local organization that provides crisis intervention, safe shelter, social and legal advocacy and support services to empower women to live free of domestic violence.

It's easy to participate! Simply drop into The Painted Pig with your creative crew and paint a piggy bank, which range from $18-$26; a portion of the piggy bank sales will go towards WCF. After your one-of-a-kind ceramic creations are fired, they'll be displayed in the store until judging week, March 20-26. Judging will take place both in the store and online.

Pigs will be judged on creativity and originality and entries will be divided into separate age categories, so that your youngest creatives also have a chance to win. The grand prize is a $100 gift card plus other goodies. Plus, a first and second prize winner in each category will win $50 and $25 gift cards, respectively. And, every participant will be entered into the big drawing—a painting party for eight!

The Paint a Pig Art Contest at The Painted Pig will continue through March 12. Hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Mon.-Wed., 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Thu.-Sat., noon-6 p.m. Sun.
