Some other great ways to spend a Saturday: the family-friendly Mardi Gras Parade in SoMa, free building workshops for kids at Home Depot and more!
5th Annual Take Your Child to the Library Day at All CALS Locations: All branches of the Central Arkansas Library System join with libraries across the U.S. and Canada and celebrate with special programs! Kids and families take part in crafts and activities throughout the libraries. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 6. Info: CALS.org. FREE!
SoMa Mardi Gras Parade & Area Events in Downtown Little Rock: Enjoy homegrown floats, beads, people and animal costumes, vendors, marching bands, and fun during the parade down Main Street from 24th to 12th Streets! Arrive early for Mardi Gras face painting at The Green Corner Store (11 a.m.-noon). Valentine's Mailbox at All Home Depot Locations: Build a wooden mailbox to hold your Valentine's cards from their favorite friends. At this workshop geared for kids ages 5-12, participants take home their craft and receive a free certificate of achievement, workshop apron, and a commemorative pin. Children must be present at the store at the time of entry to the workshop. Limited space, and participants are admitted on a first come, first served basis. Saturday Storytime at Barnes & Noble Locations in North Little Rock & West Little Rock: Each Saturday at both the west Little Rock and North Little Rock Barnes & Noble locations, families can enjoy a free storytime and activities. WILDKids Cook! at Wildwood Park for the Arts: WILDKids Cook! is a continuing program taught by Faith Anaya from Kids Cook! Arkansas. Faith shares creative recipes that will give children hands-on experience in the kitchen.
