JMS Cares is a newly formed program at Pulaski County Special School District’s Jacksonville Middle School that encourages positive choices, tolerance and empathy for others. Members participate in mentoring special education students—what a wonderful learning experience for everyone involved!


In late October, North Little Rock School District’s Amboy Elementary had a Book Character Parade. Staff and students dressed up as book characters and paraded around the building to show off their creative costumes.


The Allen School, which serves children with special needs from birth to age 5, recently installed new playground equipment that provides more safety features, such as lower thresholds and shorter, flatter sides. And the kids love it too!


Little Rock School District students held a Red Ribbon Rally in late October with the theme, “Respect Yourself—Be Drug-Free.” The students made a ceremonial pledge to remain drug-free. Plus, they had a blast dancing to music, watching performances and presenting their handiwork in the “Parade of Banners.”


Strike! Recently, a team from Pulaski County Special School District’s Maumelle High School competed in the Special Olympics Bowling Competition. The Gold Mixed Team from Maumelle took home first place!
