Little Rock School District’s Horace Mann Middle School had a very special visitor in September—Chelsea Clinton! In the presentation, students learned about Clinton’s new book, “It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going,” which shares inspiring stories of young people around the globe who are making an impact in their communities.

Fifth-grade students at Pulaski County Special School District’s Landmark Elementary School participated in the annual Worldfest at War Memorial Park earlier in the fall. Created in 1994 by the Little Rock Racial and Cultural Diversity Commission, World Fest is an exciting festival that offers students a variety of multicultural learning experiences. Landmark presented two musical selections on the World Stage and also created two displays and presentations on the countries of India and Mozambique. The Mozambique display and presentation was awarded third place!

Students at Little Rock School District’s Wakefield Elementary recently raised awareness—and valuable funds—in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness. Over a two-week period in September, students had the opportunity to donate a dollar and color a ribbon orange in support of a fellow student Channon Dunn. Dunn, a third grader, is being treated for leukemia at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. The result was a sea of orange ribbons lining the school walls—and a $4,225 check to benefit Arkansas Children’s Hospital!
