It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood and another sunny, summer weekend is just around the corner! From a baseball game at Dickey-Stephens Park to a pool party at Crater of Diamonds State Park, there are plenty of options for family fun.

But our top five weekend events for July 11-12 focus on the arts, from a free watercolor workshop at Arkansas Arts Center to local artisans celebrating the Green Corner Store's birthday to martial arts competitions at the ATA World Expo. There's so much to see and do!

And we haven't even mentioned some of our favorite water activities, such as nearby splash pads and water parks, family floats on the river, and secret swimming holes.

ATA World Expo & Championships 2015 at Statehouse Convention Center: Taekwondo enthusiasts have come to Little Rock this week for training, competition and fellowship. The Tournament of Champions will be held July 9 & 10. Thursday’s competition will include the tricks, flips and martial arts acrobatics of ATA-Xtreme and Creative. Friday’s championships will showcase the traditional competitors in forms, weapons, point sparring and combat weapons sparring. And on Saturday & Sunday, spectators can watch as students compete and demonstrate their skills in traditional forms, weapons, sparring and more. All competitions are open to the public. The Green Corner Store 6th Birthday Bash: Join the celebration with music, door prizes, and store specials! Loblolly Creamery will present special birthday-themed ice cream treats for sale, while Arkansas’ only professional circus company, ReCreation Studios, entertains. Visitors can also shop talented Arkansas artists and artisans who will be on hand to sell their locally-made treasures. And a craft fair will be also be set up at next door at Studio Main, too, featuring the likes of Arkie Style, Southern Girl Soapery, Bang Up Betty and more. 11 a.m.-4 p.m. July 11. Summer Movies at CALS Ron Robinson Theater: Young movie buffs can step out of the heat and into the theater for this Saturday’s screening of “Song of the Sea,” which was nominated for Best Animated Feature Film at the 2015 Academy Awards. Rated PG, the 2014 children’s movie is an Irish animated film that takes inspiration from the Selkies of Irish folklore—Selkies are mythological creatures that live as seals in the sea but become humans on land. 2 p.m. July 11. $5. Creative Sundays at Esse Purse Museum: Kids ages 8-12 take part in a creative workshop inspired by the “Pinafores, Purses & Pigtails” exhibit on vintage children’s purses. The afternoon starts with a fun game in the museum, followed by crafting paper purses with art teacher Lilia Hernandez. Reservations required and space is limited. 1-3 p.m. July 12. $15. Super Sunday Free Family Funday at Arkansas Arts Center: Engage in free art-making experiences for the whole family! Families will explore the medium of watercolor through the recreation of a Paul Signac painting, currently featured in the “Paul Signac Watercolors and Drawings: The James T.
