10 Events for Weekend Fun: Valentine's Events, Mardi Gras and More
Love is in the air this weekend, as Valentine's Day events take over your favorite family spots! Spend an evening as a family at The Wonder Place, listen to romantic music from the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, or drop off the kids at Altitude Trampoline Park and have a parents-only date!
Here are our top 10 events for weekend (and Valentine's Day) fun in central Arkansas!
1. Valentine's Night Out at Altitude Trampoline Park: Bring the kids for some jumping fun while mom and dad enjoy a Valentine's Night Out! Baby sitters, including grandparents, are no cost jumping or not. If parents are leaving their children in the care of Altitude staff, children must be at least 4 years old and potty trained. $18 for 5-hour jump pass. 5-10 p.m. Feb. 14. 2. American Girl Valentine’s Day Jubilee at Terry Library: Bring your favorite American Girl and celebrate Valentine’s Day with crafts, activities, and hot chocolate. 2-4 p.m. Feb. 14. For info: (501) 228-0129, CALS.org. FREE!
3. Sweetheart Mardi Gras Parade in SoMa: Catch some beads at this parade that mixes Valentine's Day and Mardi Gras. Attendees can watch floats and walkers in the parade, as well as grand marshals Craig O'Neill and Jane Hankins. Following the parade, gentlemen can sign up for The Root Cafe's annual beard growing contest and listen to music by the Little Rock Central High Jazz Band. There will be a free exhibit of Kwendeche masks at the Esse Purse Museum and more goodies and attractions at SoMa's many shops and restaurants. Noon Feb. 14. FREE!
4. Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Presents Dancing and Romancing at Connor Performing Arts Center: Broadway and Hollywood combine for a romantic and entertaining evening of song and dance with two veterans of the Broadway stage: Joan Hess and Kirby Ward. Inspired by the likes of Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Gene Kelly and Eleanor Powell, this evening will put a song in your heart and have you dancing in the aisles! $19-$58; kids free with paid adult admission via Entergy Kids Ticket. 6. Heifer Hour: Guatemala at Heifer Village: Explore Guatemala and make maracas to take home! Heifer Hour is the second Saturday of each month and features a craft, game, children’s book or outdoor activity to help teach kids about caring for the Earth and for other people. 7. Lil' Wild Ones: "Going on a Bear Hunt" at Central Arkansas Nature Center: Discover bears through story, art and games. Lil Wild Ones is held on the second Saturday at 2 p.m. each month for hands-on, nature-related activities for children ages 4-8. 2 p.m. Feb. 14.
