Program Provides Affordable Internet Access to Low-Income Students and Families
If your family qualifies for the National School Lunch Program, you also may be eligible for Comcast's Internet Essentials program. The program's purpose is to bring internet service to students and families at a manageable cost so that students are able to access educational tools and keep up in school.
In an increasingly digital world, it's no surprise that many students are now being asked to access assignments online and use the internet for schoolwork. However, many children in low-income families may not have access to home computers or the internet.
The Internet Essentials program provides eligible low-income families with low-cost broadband service for $9.95 a month; the option to purchase a computer for less than $150; and multiple options for digital literacy training in print, online, and in-person. Since its 2011 launch, they’ve connected more than 1.2 million low-income Americans, or 300,000 families, nationally to home broadband.
Through Sept. 20, Comcast will include up to six months of complimentary service for any new family that has not yet applied for Internet Essentials. To learn more and apply, visit InternetEssentials.com or call 1-855-846-8376.
