The Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission is calling all children in grades K-5 to submit entries into its youth poster contest. Held annually to promote the Great American Cleanup events in Arkansas, the contest will recognize three young winners in each of the two divisions: grades K-2 and grades 3-5.
Each year, submissions flow in from around the state, from home-schooled students, 4-H clubs, scouts and school classrooms. Posters are encouraged to depict the ideal Natural State, one that is clean, free from litter and surrounded with flowers and planted trees. Students can choose to draw parks, public areas, trails, downtown areas and more.
Artworks can be submitted in any two-dimensional medium -- pen and ink, watercolor, crayon, marker, pencil, etc. -- but must be on a standard 8 1/2" x 11" paper.
The winning art will be displayed May 12-30 at the Thea Foundation art gallery in downtown North Little Rock. Winners will also be recognized in their local communities by KAB and Great American Cleanup in Arkansas representatives.
Posters must be received by March 1. For more information about the contest, click here. Or, contact Elizabeth Philpott at (501) 682-3507, Elizabeth.Philpott@Arkansas.gov.
