This week is National CPR & AED Awareness week and with the start of summer break for most Arkansas families, it's a great time to brush up on life-saving skills.
With that in mind, Little Rock Family is giving away a free Family & Friends CPR Anytime kit from the American Heart Association here on the blog today (June 6).
To enter, all you have to do is comment on the blog below, telling us how beneficial it would be for you and your family to have this personal kit.
The deadline to enter is 4 p.m. today (June 6). A winner will be notified via email by 5 p.m.
The Family & Friends CPR Anytime Personal Learning Program allows anyone to learn the core skills of CPR in just 20 minutes using their own personal kit. The kit contains everything needed to learn basic CPR, AED skills and choking relief anywhere, from the comfort of your home to a large group setting.
All this week, the American Heart Association is using this time to educate Arkansans about Hands-Only CPR.
Hands-Only CPR has been shown to be as effective as conventional CPR for sudden cardiac arrest at home, at work or in public. It can double or even triple a victim’s chance of survival. Hands-Only CPR has just two easy steps. If you see a teen or adult suddenly collapse:
- (1) Call 9-1-1
- and (2) Push hard and fast in the center of the chest to the beat of the disco song “Stayin’ Alive”
According to the American Heart Association, people feel more confident performing Hands-Only CPR and are more likely to remember the correct rhythm (100 beats per minute) when trained to the beat of the disco classic “Stayin’ Alive.”
Eighty percent of sudden cardiac arrests happen in private or residential settings. Click here to watch the Hands-Only CPR instructional video and share it with the important people in your life. You can also find a CPR class near you by calling (877) AHA-4CPR.
