Win Tickets to the Arkansas Flower & Garden Show at the Statehouse Convention Center, Feb. 26-28
You probably think of the Arkansas Flower and Garden show as a one-stop shop for landscaping, gardening advice and more. And that's true—with live indoor display gardens, floral displays, educational seminars and over 100 vendors, the annual event is a favorite for both burgeoning and seasoned gardeners.
But you may not know that the show is a family-friendly event too! And this year, the show will host a special event geared towards families called Rock in the Garden, 5-7 p.m. Feb. 26.
Activities for Rock in the Garden will include:
- Making herbed goat cheese and meeting the Dunbar Garden goats
- Free floral headband and jewelry making
- Photo booth
- Family scavenger hunt
- Cooking demonstrations from Jack Sundell, The Root Cafe; Gwen Jones, The Beast Food Truck; Phillip Schaaf, South on Main; Kent Walker, Kent Walker Cheese
- Food vendors, including Loblolly Creamery serving up a special rose custard created for the show, Argus Cider, Ozark Candies & Nuts and Post Winery
- Live music from Captiva
- A tour of the gardens with author and educator Billy Goodnick
If you can't make it to the special Rock in the Garden event on Feb. 26, the whole family can still enjoy the full Arkansas Flower and Garden Show from Feb. 26-28. You'll find seminars on creating backyard butterfly habitats, short gardening how-to presentations, floral painting classes (advance ticket purchase required), and much more. Oh, and did we mention the model train garden display from The Central Arkansas Garden Railway Society?!
Families can also enjoy special hands-on gardening workshops just for kids on Sunday, Feb. 28. Beginning at 11 a.m. and repeating every hour until 3 p.m., little ones can learn about birds and create a simple feeder to take home. Then, they can enjoy a workshop that focuses on common insects that live in our gardens; the first session is at 11:30 a.m. and repeats every hour until 3:30 p.m.
The 25th Annual Arkansas Flower and Garden Show will be held at the Statehouse Convention Center 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Feb. 26 & 27, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 28. Admission is $10 for a single day, $15 for 3-day pass, children 12 and under free. For more info and a full schedule of events, visit ARGardenShow.org or Facebook.com/ARGardenShow.
